Francesca Falzon Young represented Malta during the FINA World Cup Leg in Doha, Qatar held between 8th – 9th October 2016.
This was an amazing and unforgettable experience for Francesca as she had the opportunity to swim alongside some of the best and fastest swimmers in the world to the likes of Katinka Hosszu, the Iron Lady of Hungary and also Alia Aitkinson of Jamaica.
Francesca swam good times considering that this was the second competition in a span of 6 days, having participated in the FINA World Cup Leg in Dubai held between the 4th – 5th October 2016.
Although she was not tapered for both Legs, (being in the middle of a hard training cycle at the moment) she managed to do two personal best in Doha. These were in 100m Freestyle with a time of 59.69 and also in 50m Butterfly with a time of 30.45.
The highlight of the competition for Francesca was when she made the finals in the 200m Freestyle. It was a proud and historical moment when both Francesca’s name and Malta were announced during the swimmers parade before the start of the 200m Freestyle Final.
Thank you for making our country proud!
