After Sliema’s defeat, Neptunes Leo Vegas were looking to take advantage as they couldn’t afford a situation where they would be level with their rivals and only one point above Sirens. They managed to finish the game as victorious as Romain Blary scored a brace late in the game to give his team a fundamental three points.

Sirens might have feel too been robbed of at least a point as they were in the game and had the lead several, but the fine line between both teams cost them the points. Neptunes complained several times with the referees as coach Zoran Maslovar was sent-off while Jordan Camilleri was fouled-out, but the character of the team came out in a difficult time, and this win is like a six-pointer.

The first session was an indication of what we might expect as the advantage changed twice, with Sirens winning the first session 3-2 after Sirens scored twice to cancel Niki Lanzon and Stevie Camilleri’s goals. Presciutti gave Sirens a two-goal advantage in the second session, but Neptunes equalised with both goals coming again from veteran Niki Lanzon and their main scorer Stevie Camilleri. Sirens still stayed with a goal advantage as Presciutti netted his third personal goal of the game.

The third session restored equality as Neptunes won the session after the break to finish the session 6-6. They even went ahead through goals by Frenchman Blary and Jordan Camilleri, but Riolo equalised. The last session was the one to decide the match.

Things looked to be going Sirens’ way as they took the lead in three occasions after goals by Marc Grech, Isaiah Riolo and Clint Mercieca, but a brace by Stevie Camilleri and a brilliant goal by Blary levelled the game in three occasions. The game looked to be heading towards a draw, but with a minute left, Romain Blary was the fastest one to score the winning goal, with a goal from centre.
