Sirens pass tough test

Although leading almost throughout Sirens Ritter Sport were only able to pull away comfortably three minutes 51 seconds from the end to extend their 11-9 advantage by two further goals, to register a 14-11 victory against a plucky Marsascala.

The Northerners had what appeared on paper to be a stronger outfit, but the southseasiders kept up a decent fight and at times were only one goal behind their opponents. Even when the deficit widened to two or three goals in Sirens’ favour, Marsascala refused to buckle, also inspired by some fine saves from Ryan Sciortino in goal.

However, the St Paul’s Bay team, for whom Yugoslav Vasovic and Juergen Borg scored a hat-trick each, and Tamas Varga and Ryan Mock each scoring a brace, were displaying all-round shooting skills.
